Keewatin-Patricia District School Board recognizes woman of merit award recipient

This year's "Woman of Merit Award" recipient is the principal at Beaver Brae Secondary School. Tracy Benoit, exemplifies the values and characteristics that merit her receiving this award. She was recognized for this achievement by KPDSB on International Women's Day.

KENORA—Keewatin-Patricia District School Board recognized a “Woman of Merit” award recipientearlier this month.

They offered their congratulations to Beaver Brae Secondary School Principal, Tracey Benoit, who has been recognized as the Woman of Merit by the Women’s Shelter, Saakaate House on International Women’s Day.

KPDSB expressed their heartfelt sentiments to Tracey for this, “well-deserved recognition" and, spoke about how proud they are to "work alongside with Tracy  each day”. They thanked her for all that she does, and continues to do, for her school and her community.

Tracey Benoit is currently a principal at Beaver Brae Secondary School. Throughout her career, she has influenced many different age groups. During her 25 year career she has taken on many roles from classroom teacher, to guidance counsellor, to student success teacher and literacy coach.

Tracey was an employee of the Woman’s Shelter, Saakaate House, and as a young teen she knew the value of women and the importance of breaking down cycles of abuse. She became an advocate for the safety of young girls and women, at an early age, and continues to do that today.
