Kasabonika First Nation woman charged with drug trafficking

A 44-year-old woman was charged after cocaine was found during the search of a residence and vehicle in the community.

KASABONIKA FIRST NATION, Ont. — A Kasabonika First Nation woman is facing several charges following an investigation into drug trafficking by Nishnawbe Aski Police Service.

According to a media release issued by NAPS, officers with the Intelligence Unit and Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant of a residence and vehicle in Kasabonika First Nation on Thursday.

As a result of the search, officers seized a quantity of cocaine, cash, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

A 44-year-old woman was located later the same day in a different location and taken into custody without incident. She was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The woman was released from custody with conditions and a future court date.
