Toronto—The Province of Ontario is taking the month of June to come together and celebrate seniors. June 2022 is Senior’s Appreciation Month in Ontario.
The Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility of Ontario declared June, 2022 as Seniors Appreciation Month, a time when Ontarians are encouraged to focus on and recognize the amazing older Ontarians who have contributed so much to their communities.
The theme for 2022, is “Stay Active, Connected, and Sate. The Ministry offered an outline of what each of the terms in this theme highlights. According to the Ministry website, they provide links to gain further information as to how to help seniors “Stay active-stay connected-stay sate”:
- Stay active: Get information on programs and services to help seniors stay physically and mentally healthy.
- Stay connected: Find social, cultural, learning, volunteer and recreational programs to help seniors stay socially connected.
- Stay safe: Get information on vaccines, community supports and protection from financial scams and fraud to help seniors stay safe.
The Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility acknowledges that many senior active living centre across Ontario develop programs for older adults to help them stay active and connected to their community.
These activities for seniors offered by each municipality in Ontario, focus on supporting the theme of Senior’s Appreciation Month 2022, so that our older citizens can in fact stay active-stay connected and stay safe.
