RAINY RIVER — A 55-year-old Manitoba driver was issued a three-day licence suspension after being stopped for an unsafe load and found to be in the warning range for drinking and driving.

Provincial police were conducting a commercial motor vehicle blitz on Wednesday along Highway 71, when one vehicle was found with plywood pallets sticking out from the back of a van that had the doors held together by a small strap.

Police stopped the vehicle, and performed a roadside test to determine if the driver was impaired by alcohol.

The driver registered on the approved screening device, which resulted in his vehicle being towed and the licence suspension.

The driver has been charged with having an insecure load.
