In-person classical music concerts return this summer to Kenora

Live in-person classical performances are taking place this summer in Kenora after only being streamed online for the past two years.

KENORA -- Classical music fans will be treated to the sounds of Beethoven, Liszt, and Chopin this Wednesday, July 20 in downtown Kenora.

Pianist Brett Kingsbury, a pianist and music professor at Western University in London, Ont. will perform the next installment of the Summer Market Music Festival from TrypTych Concert and Opera.

Series organizer, Edward Franko, said the live performance has started after two years of online streaming performances only.

Kingsbury will perform a repertoire which includes Beethoven Op 78, Liszt Concert Etude No 1 S. 144, Chopin Op 25 no 1, Op 10 no 3 & 5 and Debussy L'Isle Joyeuse.

The concert will take place at St. Alban’s Cathedral in Kenora at noon and will be preceded by a recital by the church’s carillon bells at 11:30 a.m.

Franko said while admission is free, donations are gladly accepted.
