NWO Northwest stated that impaired driving is on the rise in the region.

“NWROPP continues to conduct Festive R.I.D.E. programs across the region and impaired numbers continue to rise. There are no excuses for driving while impaired,” stated OPP Northwest Region.

Currently, there have been 2,311 Festive R.I.D.E events. Officers have issued 128 impaired driving charges and 17 Warn-Range Suspensions.

Last year's campaign saw 2,294 Festive R.I.D.E events. Officers issued 140 impaired driving charges and 16 Warn-Range Suspensions.

The Festive R.I.D.E program will continue until January 2, 2024; therefore, OPP is on the lookout for more impaired drivers from now until then.
