Impaired driving charges laid in Fort Frances

A Tuesday evening traffic complaint has resulted in charges for one Atikokan man.

FORT FRANCES -- A 67-year-old Atikokan resident is facing impaired driving charges following a complaint.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers received a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driving in the Town of Fort Frances on Tuesday just after 9 p.m.

Officers located the motor vehicle on Mackenzie Avenue in Atikokan.

Police say after speaking with the driver, it was determined the driver was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages. Subsequently, the driver failed the roadside test.

As a result, a 67-year-old Atikokan man was arrested and charged with operation while impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) (80 plus).

His driver's licence suspended, the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 20 in Atikokan.
