Impaired driving charges laid in Fort Frances

FORT FRANCES – A suspicious motor vehicle complaint over the weekend has resulted in impaired charges for a Manitoba resident.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers received a complaint from a member of the public Saturday around 3 a.m. of a suspicious motor vehicle in Fort Frances.

While speaking with the driver, it was determined that they had been consuming alcohol.

Police say the driver was placed under arrest and returned to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation a 23-year-old of Portage La Prairie, MN, was charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, refusing to provide breath sample, and driving while under suspension.

She was released by way of undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Fort Frances court on Feb. 28, 2022 to answer to the charges.

Motorists who drive impaired by alcohol or drugs are subject to drivers license suspensions, fines, vehicle impoundments, criminal records and increased insurance costs. Please drive responsibly, don't drink and drive.
