KENORA — Ontario Provincial Police in Kenora had their hands full on Sunday, thanks to a pair of impaired motorists caught within an hour of each other.
In a release issued on Wednesday, police say they were called to a single motor-vehicle collision just before 2 a.m. on Feb. 9, after a vehicle was found stuck in a snowbank on Chipman Street.
A 30-year-old man from Kenora was charged with operation while impaired, alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired, blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.
He was also charged with being a novice driver with a blood alcohol concentration above zero and driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available.
Then, just after 2 a.m., police attended a second collision, this one behind a local bar.
Police arrived on scene where they found the driver attempting to pull a vehicle out of snowbank, where it had become stuck.
The investigation determined the 36-year-old Kenora motorist had been consuming alcohol and he was charged with operation while impaired, alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired, blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.
The vehicles of both drivers were impounded and their driver’s licences were suspended.
Both are expected to appear in court in Kenora to face the charges.
It is Newswatch policy not to name suspects in cases in which it is unlikely we will follow the case through to its conclusion in court.
