ATIKOKAN — A 24-year-old faces several charges after allegedly fleeing from officers in a stolen vehicle.
Provincial police said officers attempted to pull the vehicle over on Highway 11 near Flanders Road, east of Atikokan, on Tuesday morning.
The driver did not comply and fled. The vehicle was later found parked on the highway.
Police said the vehicle being driven was reported stolen in Thunder Bay. The driver, a 24-year-old from Fort Frances, was determined to be impaired. She was taken by police to Atikokan for further testing.
She is charged with multiple counts related to impaired driving, flight from a peace officer, possession of property obtained by crime, driving a vehicle without a licence, and driving with an open container of liquor.
he accused was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Nov. 28 in Fort Frances.
The driver was issued a 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension and the vehicle is impounded for seven days.
