Impaired charges were laid after a collision with a police vehicle

Rainy River has charged one individual with impaired driving after colliding with a police vehicle.

FORT FRANCES – During yesterday's weather event, just before 9:30 p.m., Rainy River OPP were responding to an incident on Third Street when a motor vehicle collided with marked police cruisers.

There were no injuries to officers or the driver of the motor vehicle as a result, according to the OPP.

While investigating, officers stated the driver was impaired by alcohol.

They determined the driver had a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.

As a result, the 20-year-old from Fort Frances was arrested and charged with impaired driving.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 25.
