FORT FRANCES — A 25-year-old from Fort Frances was arrested for impaired driving after a routine traffic stop indicated possible insurance issues.
The OPP officer who stopped the vehicle in the 2nd Street East area of Fort Frances at roughly 2:30 a.m. last Friday detected that the driver had been consuming alcohol and demanded an approved screening device test.
After allegedly failing the test, the 25-year-old was taken into custody and transported to the Fort Frances Detachment, where additional breath testing was completed.
The individual has since been charged with operation while impaired by alcohol or drug, operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 milligrams or over and operation of a motor vehicle without insurance.
They also had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
The individual was released by police and is scheduled to appear in the Fort Frances Ontario Court of Justice in June.
