Ignace Youth Advisory aware of need for skills training for all youth

Skills training needs to start in our Canadian schools early on in our student's curriculum and at an early age. The Canadian government has made it evident that in-demand skilled jobs lack enough skilled individuals available to fill those positions. Ignace Youth advisory is well aware of this need.

IGNACE—Nothing seems more evident in Canadian schools and in the workforce, of the importance of skills training.

The Canadian government has recently made numerous announcements regarding the funding of skills training as it recognizes the lack of in-demand trades across the country.

Ignace Youth Advisory is highlighting this focus by offering a “Mini Essential Skills for Youth” jobs skills training sessions for Grades 7 to 12, March 14, 21, and 30.

As part of the Ignace Youth Engagement Strategy and the Early Investment in Education and Skills Program, the IYA working group presents job skills training for youth.

On Monday, March 14 at the Ignace Learn More Centre, Crossroads Employment and Training Centre will offer resume writing training from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

During this time youth can apply for summer jobs opportunities.

On March 21, 2022, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. a Job Search Skills Training and Interview Training session will take place; and on March 30 during the same time slot, a Customer Service Excellence Training session will be offered.

Interested participants are asked to provide their own laptops, but if they require one to contact Jody Waldock, ahead of the course date at (807)-934-6203.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided, with “giveaways” for all participants.

Pre-registration is required by calling Jody Waldock at (807)-934-6203.
