IGNACE—The Municipality of Ignace along with Northwestern Health Unit and Lions Club International are partnering up to launch their community “Clean-up Week”.
These organizations and the municipality will be focused on each of their own initiatives, that are scheduled for Monday 30, and will run until Sept. 2, 2022.
Lions Club International will run their Battery Drive, when any old or used lead-acid batteries from cars, trucks, ATV’s. boats, snowmobiles etc., can be dropped off.
Their location drop-off is Signal Weather or 129 Balsam Street, Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Residents need to know that the drop-off location will be closed on Saturday and Sunday.
Lions Club International also shared a message given during World Environmental Day, which reminded the public that flushing medication down the toilet can cause pollution in our mud and soil. Therefore, the organization asks that the public dispose of unwanted or expired medication, by dropping it off at their local Guardian Pharmacy.
The Municipality of Ignace is focusing on Community Clean-up Week, during which time residents can pick up their clean-up week packages at the Arena, Upper Hall on Monday, May 30 from 3-5 p.m. At that time garbage bag tags will be provided for disposal of litter collected.

Finally, the Northwestern Health Unit will be present at the community on May 30, pick-up to distribute information about safe needle pick-up and disposal. The Health Unit will also provide a fun activity for children to participate in, in order to teach them about safe and unsafe items. According to the Health Unit Take Home Kits will be available.
