IGNACE — The Ignace Community Nuclear Liaison Committee opened its doors to the public on Thursday.
The committee hosted their grand opening at 10 a.m. with a ribbon cutting is scheduled for that time and more activities to continue throughout the day until 7 p.m.
The ICNLC was set up by Ignace Municipal Council and is a working group whose main goal is to help community members learn more about Canada’s plan for managing used nuclear fuel, and reflect on interest in hosting this project in the area.
The township describes an important function of the ICNLC as, “seeking answers to questions and concerns raised by community members and collaboratively planning community engagement.”
ICNL works to develop and deliver a variety of resources and community projects aimed at providing information and learning opportunities to the community of Ignace about Nuclear Waste Management.
The ICNLC office is located at 34 Main Street, beside the local library. Everyone is welcome to this event.
