Highway collision leads to numerous charges

A Friday collision has resulted in one person in custody.

FORT FRANCES – A 39-year-old Fort Frances resident is facing numerous charges following a two-vehicle collision last week.

According to a Rainy River Ontario Provincial Police release, officers were advised of a collision on Friday, Aug. 12 around 6:28 p.m. on the King’s Highway.

Police say a vehicle travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed, lost control and collided with a westbound vehicle.

It was suspected the driver of the eastbound vehicle was under the influence of a drug.

As a result of the investigation, Dawn Jourdain, 39, of Fort Frances has been arrested and charged with operation while impaired – blood drug concentration, dangerous operation, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000, two counts of possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - Other Drugs, possession of a schedule I substance - other drugs, driving while under suspension and disobey portable red light. 

The accused was held is custody.
