CONMEE — Police have confirmed that the drivers of both vehicles died in a collision on Highway 11/17 Friday.
The two drivers were the only occupants of the vehicles, according to police.
In a release issued early Saturday morning, police said emergency services responded to a serious motor vehicle collision at about 7:20 p.m. on Friday. The crash involved a commercial motor vehicle and a pick-up truck and occurred at Oikonen Road, just south of the Highway 102 junction at Sistonen's Corner.
The highway was closed overnight between Sistonen's Corner and Kakabeka Falls and reopened just after 11 a.m. on Saturday. One lane remains closed near Oikonen Road.
In addition to OPP, members of Superior North EMS, Conmee Volunteer Fire Service and Oliver Paipoonge Volunteer Fire Service responded to the call.
