The next few days will bring some hot, summer weather to many areas of Northwestern Ontario.
Environment Canada issued heat warnings on Monday for portions of the region including Kenora, Fort Frances, Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, and parts of the Far North.
Environment Canada said a "two or three day heat event" is expected to start on Monday and continue through Wednesday, with daytime high temperatures approaching or exceeding 30 C, and overnight lows remaining in the mid to high teens.
Extreme heat will begin [Monday] with some relief overnight as nighttime lows may drop below criteria," the advisory stated. "However, hot and humid conditions are expected on Tuesday with little to no relief Tuesday night. The hot conditions may continue into Wednesday for some areas."
The wildfire hazard remains high to extreme in many parts of the region, though some recent rainfall in the Kenora, Red Lake, and northwestern portion of the Sioux Lookout areas has lowered the hazard to moderate.
There are 33 active fires burning across the northwest.
