A large area of Northwestern Ontario is under a heat warning, with a multi-day heat event expected to start Friday.

Environment Canada issued the advisory Friday morning for areas including Kenora, Dryden, Fort Frances, Red Lake, and Sioux Lookout.

The daytime high temperatures through Sunday are expected to reach or exceed 30 C, with overnight lows remaining between 16 C and 18 C.

Heat-related risks are greatest for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors, Environment Canada cautioned.
