The third head of a regional hospital is departing their post.

The Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre announced earlier this week that president and CEO Douglas Semple will resign, effective at the start of February.

Semple took on the job last June, after having served in other roles with the hospital, including as the vice president of corporate services and communications on its founding senior management group in the early 2000s.

"I leave the CEO office with a good heart. It’s been a long run, right from the beginning,” Semple said in a statement released by the health centre. "I want to thank the managers and staff for accepting me to be part of their circle of care for the patients that come to us. I thank them for allowing me to lead them for a brief time."

His resignation follows the departure of former Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital CEO Sue LeBeau, who left that job in December after more than three years in the role.

As well, the Atikokan General Hospital is also looking to hire a new president and CEO, after Jorge Van Slyke accepted the same position with Blanche River Health.
