Good Samaritan help police with arrest

After receiving a call from a good samaritan, OPP apprehended a drunk driver on Highway 11

FORT FRANCES- Ontario Provincial Police Rainy River District Detachment received a call from a good Samaritan on July 9, at approximately 10:00 p.m.

The driver was travelling on Highway 11 near Off Lake Road when they noticed another vehicle travelling at an excessive speed.

Rainy River OPP conducted a traffic stop and demanded a breath sample.

Kevin Callaghan, age 37 of Chapple Township, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle;
  • Operating a motor vehicle while having over 80 mgs of alcohol per 100 ml of blood; and,
  • Operating a motor vehicle while prohibited from doing so.

Callaghan will appear before an Ontario Court of Justice in Rainy River on October 26, to answer the charges.
