NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO – Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement, advising that freezing drizzle is on its way.

Areas of freezing drizzle are expected or occurring in:

  • Dryden - Vermilion Bay
  • Ignace - English River
  • Atikokan - Shebandowan - Quetico Park
  • Upsala - Raith
  • Fort Frances - Emo - Rainy River
  • Seine River Village - Mine Centre
  • Savant Lake - Sturgeon Lake
  • Sioux Lookout - Eastern Lac Seul

The national weather service says freezing drizzle mixed with light snow will move out of the area Wednesday evening.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slipper.

Freezing drizzle advisories are issued when drizzle falling in sub-zero temperatures is expected to freeze on contact, and over time create icy surfaces.
