Fort Frances resident arrested on assault charges

A Fort Frances resident is facing several assault charges.

RAINY RIVER — Officers with the provincial police have laid assault charges against a resident of Fort Frances. 

OPP were called to an incident on Sixth Street Monday at around 7 p.m. 

Officers learned two individuals had been assaulted during the altercation. 

After locating one person, a 34-year-old Fort Frances resident was arrested and will be facing eight charges, including spousal assault and uttering threats. 

The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victim.

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances at a later date.
