FORT FRANCES – The Ontario Provincial Police have charged three people with impaired operation in Fort Frances following separate calls for service over two days this week.
On May 16, at approximately 5:51 p.m., officers responded to a call for service in Fort Frances where they located an involved individual on Second Street operating a motor vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.
Sean Smith, 37-years-old, of Fort Frances was administered an Approved Screening Device by officers and was subsequently arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus).
Smith is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on June 19, 2023
On May 17 at roughly 1:55 a.m., the OPP received a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver.
The vehicle was located on Highway 11 near Mine Centre and a traffic stop was conducted.
Angela Shutes, 26-years-old, of Atikokan, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) as a result of the investigation.
Later that same day at approximately 08:59 a.m., Fort Frances OPP received a call for service in the parking lot of Tim Hortons for a female passed out in a vehicle.
Officers attended and arrested the occupant and, because of the investigation, Kristen Kaun, 41-years-old, of Fort Frances, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs.
Shutes is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on June 29, and Kaun is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on June 26.
All three drivers received a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment.
