Environment Canada has issued air quality advisories for some parts of Northwestern Ontario, including Dryden and Sioux Lookout.

An special air quality statement was issued Monday morning, warning that smoke is causing or is expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility.

Environment Canada said smoke plumes from northwestern Ontario forest fires have caused high levels of air pollution.

People with lung disease or heart disease, older adults, children, pregnant people, and people who work outdoors are at higher risk are among those with the highest risks of having their health affected by wildfire smoke.

The smoke is expected to affect air quality through today.
