THUNDER BAY — The Ministry of Natural Resources is working to extinguish a forest fire in Quetico Provincial Park.

The ministry's Aviation, Forest Fire & Emergency Services branch reports the fire is burning between Burke Lake and Sunday Lake near the southern extremity of the park, about four kilometres from the U.S. border.

AFFES estimates the size of the fire at two hectares.

It was discovered late Monday afternoon, and as of mid-morning Tuesday it was not under control.

There are 12 other active wildfires in Northwestern Ontario, but all of them are being observed.
