Flood watch warning for the Northwest

The Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry (NDMNRF) has issued a flood watch warning throughout the Northwest Region.

NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO – Residents within the Northwest Region are advised to take extreme caution when travelling on resource access roads, highways, bridges, and large bodies of water such as rivers and lakes.

The recent rainfall and melting snow have rapidly caused many areas around the Northwest region to flood.

If you need to travel around these areas, be aware that the ground is deteriorating quickly due to the ground saturation and fast-flowing water, which will cut off access to nearby road networks.

Shoreline damage may also occur, and those with boats and docks are asked to secure them to prevent further property damage.

With rainfall warnings in effect, these conditions will further impact these areas.

The NDMNRF asks that those impacted by high water levels or who have information about flooding in the area please contact the local ministry district office by clicking the link.
