RED LAKE - On July 10, at approximately 3:58 a.m., officers from the Red Lake and Ear Falls Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were on general patrol and observed a motor vehicle that had driven into the ditch near Opichii Street, within the Municipality of Red Lake.
Through investigation, it was determined the operator of the motor vehicle had been consuming alcoholic beverages and was placed under arrest & returned to the detachment for further tests.
As a result of the investigation Hilary Lawson, age 28, of Red Lake, was charged with:
- 1x Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs,
- 1x Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
She was released by way of Undertaking for Red Lake court on August 18, at 9:00 a.m. to answer the charges.
On July 14th, at approximately 1:51 a.m., officers initiated a traffic stop on Waterfront Road, within the Township of Ear Falls.
Through investigation, it was determined the operator of the motor vehicle had consumed drugs and the officer made a demand for a Standard Field Sobriety Test (S.F.S.T.). The driver performed poorly, was placed under arrest and returned to the detachment for further tests.
As a result of the investigation Crystalina Chartrand, age 38, of Ear Falls, was charged with:
- 1x Operation while impaired - blood drug concentration
She was released by way of Undertaking for Red Lake court on September 15 at 9:00 a.m. to answer the charges.
On July 14, at approximately 2:44 p.m., officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program, along Nungessor Road, within the Municipality of Red Lake.
Through investigation, the officer suspected the operator of the motor vehicle had been consuming alcoholic beverages. The driver refused to comply with the officer's demand for a roadside test and was subsequently placed under arrest.
As a result of the investigation Corry Turtle, age 54, of Pikangikum, was charged with:
- 1x Failure or refusal to comply with a demand
He was released by way of Undertaking for Red Lake court on August 18th, at 9:00 a.m. to answer the charges.
On July 17, at approximately 6:39 p.m., officers received a traffic complaint along Nungessor Road, within the Municipality of Red Lake.
Through investigation, the motor vehicle was located and it was determined that the operator of the motor vehicle had been consuming alcoholic beverages. The officer made a demand for an approved screening device breath sample. The driver failed, was placed under arrest & returned to the detachment for further tests.
As a result of the investigation Theoren Suggashie, age 20, of Pikanigkum, was charged with:
- 1x Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- 1x Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
He was released by way of Undertaking for Red Lake court on September 15 at 9:00 a.m. to answer the charges.
On July 23, at approximately 11:26 p.m., officers initiated a traffic stop along Highway 125, within the Municipality of Red Lake.
Through investigation, it was determined the operator of the motor vehicle was impaired by drugs. The officer made a demand for a Standard Field Sobriety Test (S.F.S.T.) & the driver performed poorly, was placed under arrest and returned to the detachment for further tests.
As a result of the investigation Mark Kitaj, age 30, of Kirkland Lake, was charged with:
- 1x Operation while impaired - blood drug concentration
He was released by way of Undertaking for Red Lake court on September 15 at 9:00 a.m. to answer the charges.
