Fire in Nibinamik First Nation under investigation

Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) are investigating a house fire in the community of Nibinamik First Nation.

NIBINAMIK FIRST NATION — According to Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS), police received a call for service regarding the structural fire in the early morning of Sat. Aug. 3.

Both police officers and firefighters responded.

NAPS reports that when first responders arrived at the scene, they saw a shed fully engulfed in flames.

The fire spread to a nearby home on the same property, and both were significantly damaged.

NAPS stated the exact estimates of damages cannot be confirmed at this time.

No injuries were reported as a result of this fire.

The investigation remains ongoing.
