SIOUX LOOKOUT — A fire at Patricia Plaza has damaged nearly a dozen units, displacing residents in the seniors' living facility.

Provincial police said emergency responders were called to the fire at the Third Avenue building on Saturday.

All residents were evacuated without injury, police added.

The Kenora District Services Board said the fire was contained to one wing of the building, which resulted in the loss of 11 apartments.

The services board said the remaining 26 apartments have been saved and they are working to get residents back into their homes.

"Short-term accommodations are being sought and secured for residents not able to stay with their families," the board said in an update posted on its Facebook page on Saturday. "KDSB is working with the residents who will require longer-term support as they have lost their entire home and belongings.

The board later said that all residents have found alternative shelter, either with family members or through community partners.
