Festive RIDE in Sioux Lookout nabs 21 impaired drivers

With the provincial police’s yearly Festive RIDE campaign concluded the Sioux Lookout area OPP announced that 21 impaired drivers will face serious penalties.

SIOUX LOOKOUT – During the 47-day campaign, the Sioux Lookout-area OPP were out in full force.

According to the Sioux Lookout OPP, they stopped 1,648 drivers during 787 RIDE stops positioned in Sioux Lookout, Pickle Lake, North Caribou Lake First Nation, Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation, and Wapekeka First Nation.

Sioux Lookout OPP said 21 impaired drivers will face the loss of their driver's licence, other penalties and a criminal record. The OPP also issued 1 Warn Range Suspension.

The OPP thanks all road users and citizens who reported suspected impaired drivers to the police and did their part to keep roads safe over the holidays.

The OPP Festive RIDE Campaign ran from November 16, 2023 to January 2, 2024.
