Family fun in Red Lake (7 photos)

Children of Red Lake took a trip around the Family Fair.

RED LAKE -- A Saturday filled with fun for children in Red Lake.

Saturday, Aug. 27 the 6th annual Fresh Air Family Fair was held in Red Lake from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event was scheduled to be held at Centennial Park, but was moved to the outdoor rink pavilion due to the forecasted rain.

The Fresh Air Family Fair is a free event where many community organizations set up activity booths for families to enjoy.

Like many events, the family fair was postponed for the past two years due to COVID.

Upon entering the fair, each child was given a ‘passport‘ to have stamped at each station to be entered into a draw.

This year the booths in attendance were Kenora District Services Board, the Francophone Association, Red Lake Volunteer Fire Department, Red Lake Regional Heritage Centre, The Lions Club, the Early On Hub, Firefly and FASD Committee, Northwoods, the Best Start Network, and the Red Lake Indian Friendship Centre.

There were many activities including hockey, cardboard box tower building, water gun relays, sensory stations, crafts and even a nature scavenger hunt.
