KENORA – For those living in the unincorporated areas in the Kenora district, the Kenora District Service Board wants you to know that they are responsible for administering election details, nominations packages, and the final election proceedings.

Oct. 24 might be a season away, but with the nomination period ending on Aug. 19, there isn’t much time left to fill out the nomination forms and prepare to start campaigning.

The Kenora District has 4 spaces that represent the TWOMO area:

  • Area 12: Lac Seul Electoral Area
  • Area 13: Oxdrift Electoral Area
  • Area 14: Lake of the Woods North Electoral Area
  • Area 15: Lake of the Woods South Electoral Area

For residents who are interested in representing one of the areas, all nominees must be eligible to be a District Social Service Administration Board member representing a territory without municipal organization, a living or own property in the territory without municipal organization.

Under the District Social Services Administration Board Act and its regulation, DSSAB members representing municipal jurisdictions within the district are appointed by the municipal councils of those municipalities, and DSSAB members representing areas within Territories Without Municipal Organization (TWOMO) are selected by qualified electors of that territory through an election for a four-year term.

Residents can find nomination forms on the Kenora District Service Board website. https://kdsb.on.ca/2022-territory-without-municipal-organization-elections/

Nominations must be submitted by 2:00 pm on Friday, August 19.

Nominations can be submitted by email to [email protected], faxed to 807-223-6151, mailed to 20 King Street, Dryden, Ontario, P8N 1B3 or dropped off at 20 King Street in Dryden, Ontario.
