Dryden traffic stop results in multiple charges

Driver is charged with impaired driving, obstructing a peace officer, and operation of a vehicle while prohibited.

DRYDEN — A 28-year-old from Winnipeg faces charges after a traffic stop in Dryden.

Provincial police said officers stopped a vehicle in the city on Monday afternoon for having licence plates not authorized for the vehicle.

Police said the ensuing investigation etermined that the driver was impaired by drugs and was a prohibited driver. The driver was arrested and taken to the Dryden OPP detachment.

The accused is charged with impaired driving, obstructing a peace officer, and operation of a vehicle while prohibited.

Police said the accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in a Dryden court on Tuesday.
