Dryden resident facing 29 charges

DRYDEN — A 41-year-old from Dryden has been arrested and charged with 29 criminal code offences

Members of the Dryden OPP detachment responded to a threat at a resident on Kellar Road in Dryden on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, officers from Dryden OPP and members of the Northwest Region Crime Unit and OPP Emergency Response Team executed two search warrants.

Among the charges facing the 41-year-old are:

  • sexual assault
  • two counts of uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm - spousal
  • uttering threats - damage property
  • mischief under $5,000
  • possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • assault - spousal
  • eight counts of failure to comply with release order other than attend court
  • unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • possession of imitation weapon for dangerous weapon
  • two counts of pointing a firearm
  • three counts of unauthorized possession of weapon
  • three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • assault a peace officer with a weapon
  • resist peace officer
  • failure to comply with prohibition order

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora at a later date.

A 72-year-old from the Township of Britton was also arrested and charged with obstructing a peace officer and resisting a peace officer.

The accused was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Course of Justice in Dryden on Oct. 21.
