DRYDEN – One person was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a fire at a Dryden residence early Wednesday morning.

The Dryden Fire Service announced the news in a release posted to social media on Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters were dispatched to the home around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, responding to reports that a resident remained inside a Government Street home after a fire broke out on the building’s second story.

First arriving crews were able to quickly knock down the fire and located and removed the patient, the Dryden Fire Service said.

However, the service said the patient sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Dryden Regional Health Centre by EMS.

No other injuries were reported in connection with the fire.

A total of 24 firefighters responded with eight apparatus and cleared the scene at 3:08 a.m., the fire service said.

The Office of the Fire Marshal has been notified and was requested to investigate.

NWOnewswatch could not immediately reach the fire service for further details.
