DEER LAKE – According to NAPS, in the early morning of May 12, officers received a call for service regarding a disturbance at a residence in the community.
After arriving at the scene, officers identified a male occupant; however, once the officers begun to interact with the male, NAPS stated he became aggressive and resisted police attempts to detain him.
He was arrested without further incident.
Following the arrest, police located and seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, oxycodone pills, and cash.
Later that day, officers obtained a search warrant at the suspect’s home, which also resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of cannabis, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.
As a result, a 41-year-old from Deer Lake First Nation was charged with three counts of drug trafficking, possession of proceeds obtained by crime un $5,000, resisting arrest, two counts of failure to attend court, and two counts of failure to comply with an undertaking.
The accused appeared for bail court on May 13 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
