SIOUX LOOKOUT — Officers from the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police have arrested and charged one individual for drug trafficking offences in the municipality, thanks to ongoing investigations being conducted by the Sioux Lookout OPP Community Street Crime Unit.
On Monday night, officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 72 after forming grounds to believe the vehicle contained illicit substances for trafficking.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested for possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, and a police investigation resulted in the seizure of suspected illicit substances, including over 1.3 kilograms of cocaine and unmarked cigarettes.
Following the investigation, a 57-year-old from Worthington, Ont., was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, driving a motor vehicle with cannabis readily available and possessing unmarked cigarettes.
The accused appeared in front of the Ontario Court of Justice Kenora Bail Court on Wednesday.
