Drug-trafficking charges laid in Sioux Lookout

One Thunder Bay resident, and a pair of Sioux Lookout residents, are facing drug-related charges following a traffic stop.

SIOUX LOOKOUT -- Three individuals have been arrested and charged following a traffic stop on Saturday afternoon.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers conducted a traffic stop in Sioux Lookout on Saturday around 1 p.m. that resulted in the recovery of methamphetamine and cocaine with a street value exceeding $,500 and about $5,000 in cash.

As a result of the investigation, Charles HATTIE, 38, of Thunder Bay has been arrested and charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime and fail to comply with probation order.

Tyler DEROUIN, 41, of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, was also arrested and charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

Police also charged Jamie MAXWELL, 38, of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.

All three accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sioux Lookout on Sept. 27, 2022.
