DRYDEN – OPP Northwest Region is reporting that on the afternoon of July 3 officers with the Dryden OPP Detachment initiated a traffic stop on Highway 17 in the Township of Zealand.
The traffic stop resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamine, oxycodone, hydromorphone, and fentanyl, as well as a firearm, Canadian currency, and evidence of drug trafficking.
As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old from Toronto was charged with resisting a police officer, obstruction, assault, fleeing from police, dangerous driving, possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, and five counts of drug trafficking.
Furthermore, a 29-year-old from Sioux Lookout was charged with resisting a police officer, obstruction, assault, fleeing from police, dangerous driving, possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, and five counts of drug trafficking.
The accused individuals have been remanded into custody at the Kenora district jail where they are scheduled to appear before the court in July.
