Drivers charged with impaired in Fort Frances

Two traffic stops resulted in two drivers being arrested and charged with impaired driving.

FORT FRANCES – On the afternoon of April 22, Rainy River OPP performed a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 400 Block of Second Street East area.

Through investigation, officers stated the driver was impaired by alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus, according to OPP Northwest Region.

As a result, a 54-year-old from Fort Frances has been arrested and charged with impaired driving.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the court on June 3.

On the morning of April 23, officers with Rainy River OPP initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 900 Block of Fifth Street East area. 

During the investigation, the officers determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.

As a result, a 29-year-old from Alberton Township has been arrested and charged with impaired driving.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the court on June 10.
