Driver charged with impaired and child endangerment

One individual is facing multiple charges after a collision on Highway 125, including impaired driving and child endangerment.

RED LAKE – According to OPP Northwest Region, on the afternoon of July 5 officers with the Red Lake OPP detachment responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 125.

During the investigation, officers determined the driver was impaired by alcohol. 

Further testing showed the driver had a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.

As a result, a 46-year-old from Balmertown was arrested and charged with impaired driving, failure to ensure a child was properly secured, driving with an unsecured child passenger, failure to surrender an insurance card, failure to notify a change of address, and driving with cannabis readily available.

There were no injuries reported to police as a result of the collision.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the court in August.
