Deadly Highway 17 crash claims woman's life

Police say a single-vehicle collision in Dryden on Thursday resulted in the death of the female driver of the vehicle. A female passenger was also taken to hospital for treatment.

DRYDEN — Ontario Provincial Police in Dryden say they are investigating a fatal crash on Highway 17. 

In a release issued on Thursday, police say they were called to the scene of a single-vehicle collision involving two female occupants at about 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025.

Emergency medical services transported both victims to hospital, where the driver was pronounced dead.

The passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries. 

Police continue to investigate the collision and the highway remains closed at Sandy Beach Road and Highway 72.
