PICKLE LAKE – OPP North West Region and The Township of Pickle Lake are reporting a road closure due to a collapsed culvert and washout 10 kilometres outside Pickle Lake

The Township advises travellers to stay away from the road due to the potential hazards.

“There is a new washout on Highway 599 about 10 kilometres out of town. It has been confirmed that the highway is closed and that MTO is en route to the washout. The Community Hall will be reopened for anyone in need of a place to await the reopening. The Provincial Emergency Centre has been notified, and OPP is on the scene. Please do not attempt to leave town until the road closure notices have been rescinded. We will post updates as we receive them. The community hall is open for anyone needing a place to hang out and have a coffee etc, until the highway is reopened!” Township of Pickle Lake Administration said on their Facebook page.

Updates on the situation, including an estimated time the road will reopen, will follow soon.
