KENORA — Grant recipients ranging from $780 dollars to $41,500 towards Kenora’s Community Improvement Plan were announced for 2022. The grant programs are directed to the Harbour Town Centre and Keewatin Area.
The Municipality of Kenora, provides funding for projects and programs in specific areas of the municipality to support economic development, affordable housing, revitalization, accessibility, enhanced streetscapes, and building facades.
City Council approved this program allocating $200,000 for 2022 because of the overwhelming demand from local businesses and property owners.
The municipality’s news release explained that the majority of the grants are awarded at 50% of eligible project costs and require the applicant to provide at least a matching contribution. According to City Council, “This funding awarded through the Community Improvement Plans supports significant private sector investment into properties which is a major driver of growth and development in Kenora.”
The City of Kenora and the Heritage Kenora Committee approved eleven projects through the 2022 funding program. Successful recipients included businesses such as: Randy Nicol, Planning and Design, Salisbury Cruises, Landscaping accessibility, and Keewatin’s Two Bear’s Marina, Façade Improvement.
