KENORA—The results of the Kenora and Lake of the Woods," 25 in 5 Giving Challenge" are in.
According to Jake Goselin, community engagement coordinator, Kenora & Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation, “This year, we challenged the community to raise $25,000 in 5 hours in support of community endowment funds. We had a very success challenge after a 2-year hiatus due to COVID-19 and with many agencies and donors coming to support, we’re excited to announce that $30,460.71 was raised.” The event took place on May 13.
Funds raised from this challenge are said to go into their Community Foundation endowment funds to be invested. Goselin added that, “The income from these investments is then used to make grants to support community projects with local registered charities and not-for-profit organizations sponsored by a registered charity, while the original donation remains untouched.”
Special thanks was given to the entire community for supporting this event and to the Rotary Club of Kenora who hosted their charity barbecue which raised over $1,700 that was added to their final total.
