NAPS seizes cocaine in Sandy Lake

Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) has charged three suspects for cocaine from a home in Sandy Lake First Nation.

SANDY LAKE – According to the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service, police executed a search warrant at a residential address in Sandy Lake First Nation on Friday, June 21.

When police entered the home, they found $15,000, a quantity of suspected cocaine, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

The cash is believed to have been obtained through drug trafficking activity.

Three suspects were charged and taken into custody.

As a result, a 24-year-old, a 20-year-old, and a 22-year-old from Sandy Lake First Nation are charged with trafficking cocaine and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

All three accused have been released with conditions and a future court appearance date.

The names of the accused are withheld pending the above-mentioned charges being formally sworn in before the courts.
