DRYDEN – City of Dryden candidate Anne Berrey has officially dropped out of the race for city council.

According to the Municipal Election Act, a candidate can only withdraw their candidacy after Nomination Day if the person dies or become ineligible. If either of these two events occurs, their name can be removed from the ballot if the ballots have not been processed.

However, since Berrey does not meet these requirements, her name will remain on the ballot for the upcoming 2022 municipal election.

The City of Dryden will remind residents of her withdrawal from the election throughout the election campaign period and on the day of the election.

Berrey did not provide a reason for her withdrawal from the election campaign to Dryden’s returning office.

Elections will begin on Mon. Oct. 24 at 8 a.m.
