DRYDEN — A buyer has been found for the pulp mill in Dryden.
In a news release issued this week, Domtar said the company has reached an agreement to sell the mill to First Quality Enterprises, an American-based manufacturing company.
The news release said the transaction is expected to close early in the third quarter.
The sale of the Dryden mill, as well as the Resolute-owned pulp and paper mill in Thunder Bay, were conditions imposed by the Competition Bureau of Canada for the Paper Excellence Group to acquire Resolute Forest Products.
It was announced this week that Paper Excellence's purchase of Resolute has been completed.
In a statement, Domtar said the new buyer has made clear its commitment to the mill, its employees, and the surrounding community, and that First Quality fully intends to continue business operations consistent with past practices.
