Bombers double up Dryden, remain undefeated

Red Lake and Kam River also put up wins on Friday night in SIJHL action.

SIOUX LOOKOUT – The Sioux Lookout Bombers kept their perfect record alive on Friday night, doubling up the host Wisconsin Lumberjacks.

Connor Jack scored twice for the Bombers, who improved to 3-0-0. Owen Riffel also had a pair, giving him five goals in his past two outings.

Jack Osmond was good on 24 of 26 shots he faced to lead the Bombers between the pipes.

Ryan Kayser and Nolan Fowler had the Wisconsin goals, with William Forrester making 34 saves in a losing effort.

Sioux Lookout and Wisconsin meet again on Saturday night.

Kam River 8, Fort Frances 3: Daxton Lang scored twice and added a helper to lead the Fighting Walleye to a second straight triumph. Jett Mintenko had a goal and an assist for Kam River. Jack Wood had a goal and an assist for the host Lakers.

Red Lake 4, Dryden 2: The Miners opened the season at home, picking up their second win in three games, scoring four unanswered goals, including three in the third period, to erase an early 2-0 Ice Dogs lead. Luke Decorby evened the score at the 9:30 mark of the final frame, and Jared Burnett supplied the game-winner, touching the twine with 5:12 to go in regulation. Blake Hiltermann added an insurance marker into the empty net with 1:05 to go.

Sean Smith and McLaren Paulsen scored for Dryden (2-1-0), who suffered their first lost of the campaign. Dryden and Red Lake meet again on Saturday night.

The Thunder Bay North Stars, who were idle on Friday, will travel to Kenora to take on the expansion Islanders on Saturday.
